About
A Little About Me
My name is Thomas Hawkins and I’m a 27 year old happily married man from Newfoundland, Canada.
I’m a Programmer Consultant with Distance Education and Learning Technologies of Memorial University of Newfoundland. Most of my work is on our university-wide Learn Management System. I write scripts to expand its functionality, provide second tier technical support and co-administer the system. I also help administer a number of other servers for our department.
I graduated from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Political Science and a minor in Geography (so don’t be too surprised if you find a few political rants on here from time to time). I’m also an avid Linux user and a casual gamer, so there will likely be information posted on this site about those topics as well.
A Little About CornEmpire Software
I started CornEmpire Software when I was in high school (1998ish) as a place to display my programming projects. Originally, my applications were all in Visual Basic, but since I no longer use Windows, I now program mostly for the web using PHP.
This website will show off some of the projects I’ve worked on, as well as display information on programming, gaming and a number of other topics as time goes on. I’ve changed the focus of the site because I no longer have the time to devote to my own software projects as I’m usually programming for other people.
