Hello all, you can now download pre-hacked files for Hesk version 2.2 that implements two enhancements I’ve displayed earlier on my blog: here and here.

You can find the full tutorial, and a zip file with the three modified files here.

  1. Dear sir,

    Really usable adaptations for Hesk!
I would like to use your ‘hack’ to display custom fields dependant on problem types.
However, my Hesk version is 2.5.1, your script is for 2.2
I have looked through the index.php (version 2.5.1.) and I see that the code after line 58 is different.
Should I assume that your 2.2 hack will not work with 2.5.1?
And if not, would it be a big challenge for a PHP noob like me, to make it work anyway?

In any case thanks again for your enhancements!

  2. Hello Diederik,
It shouldn’t be too hard to make this work, provided they have been no major changes to how Hesk does its stuff. Line numbers will be different, but if the code blocks are essentially the same, then you should be able to manually apply the changes to your installed files.

That said, I’ll try to take a look at the newest version 2.5.1 and see if I can’t compile the pre-hacked files again for you to use.

  3. Dear Thomas,

Thanks a lot for your response. I will have a look at it as well and inform you if I make progress.

  4. Thanks for the comment. This prompted me to take another look at this.

I started looking at the source files, and it looks like the first of my hacks in part of the core now. So I’ll need to install the helpdesk and see how that works in order to apply the second change. Might take me a bit longer, but I’ll see if I can’t tackle it this weekend.

  5. Dear Thomas,

That would be awesome, thanks a lot in advance!

  6. I’ve updated the code for 2.5.2 which is the latest.

I’ve done things a little differently because of the ability to specify a direct link to a category that is now available in 2.5. You can see the modification tutorial here: This also contains a link to the modified files.
